Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-05-30 Last reviewed: 2026-05-29 Operator: Funfactorium Editorial — funfactorium.com — contact: [email protected]

This page explains what data Funfactorium ("we", "the site") collects, how we use it, and your choices. Plain-English version. The site is a static publication; we do not run a backend that stores user accounts.

What we collect

1. Cloudflare logs (always-on infrastructure)

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare automatically processes:

  • IP address
  • Browser user-agent
  • Request URL and timestamp
  • Referrer header

Cloudflare uses this for DDoS protection, caching, and basic analytics. We do not store these logs ourselves. See Cloudflare's privacy notice: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

2. Cloudflare Web Analytics (if enabled)

A privacy-friendly, cookie-less analytics tool that counts page views and referrers. No personally identifying tracking. No cookies. Aggregated visit counts only.

3. Google Analytics 4 (active)

GA4 is enabled site-wide (measurement ID configured via the NEXT_PUBLIC_GA_ID build env). It sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to measure aggregated session counts, page views, and user flow. We do not enable demographics/interests collection or Google Signals.

Opt-out options:

  • Install Google's official browser opt-out add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
  • Block third-party cookies in your browser settings
  • Use a privacy-focused browser extension (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, etc.)

Google's GA4 data handling: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245

4. Google AdSense (when ad serving is live)

When AdSense is active, Google may set cookies (e.g., __gads, IDE) to serve and personalize advertising, measure clicks, and detect fraud. Google's AdSense privacy notice: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads

You can opt out of personalized advertising at https://www.google.com/settings/ads or via https://www.aboutads.info/choices/.

5. Wikimedia Commons images

Hero images on plant guides are loaded directly from Wikimedia (upload.wikimedia.org). Wikimedia may log image-fetch requests per their privacy policy: https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Policy:Privacy_policy

What we don't do

  • No user accounts, no sign-up, no profiles
  • No newsletter signup forms (yet)
  • No remarketing pixels (Facebook, TikTok, etc.)
  • No email collection
  • No first-party tracking beyond Cloudflare logs

Cookies

We do not set first-party cookies of our own. Third-party cookies (Google Analytics 4, Google AdSense when live) are set by those services as described above. Your browser settings let you block or delete cookies; doing so will not break site functionality.

Children's privacy

The site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Where applicable laws give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, contact us at the email above. Because we do not maintain user accounts, requests are typically handled through the upstream services (Cloudflare, Google).

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will update the "Effective date" above. Substantive changes will be linked from the homepage for at least 14 days.
